They’d need to have some damn good new features in the subscription model to make it enticing, but at the same time they’d be able to make a case that justifies the changes…while making the original free to create in-roads towards a larger userbase and smoothing over the kind of enmity their users are probably experiencing now. Like, if they paired an annual subscription of, say, 50 bucks with a breakdown of the suite of new features only available there while giving away the ‘classic’ version for free, that would work. Head size, shape, lighting, and facial features are all adjustable. Furthermore, it includes a vast library of downloadable brushes created by professionals. It has a lot of drawing tools, speech balloons, 3D effects, perspective rulers, and more. What kind of messaging is this, where they give nothing that can provide something like a positive spin? Clip Studio Paint is a professional application for comic book artists, animators, and sketch artists.
Damn, uh…switching to a subscription model? With no specifics on what the subscription price will be? With no specifics of what the future updates that the subscription model will give access will be? With no announcement about old perpetual license they’ve been giving out for the last decade and how that is or isn’t changing?
